For those travelers who are not only looking for sun and beach on the seafront, but who like to savor the culture, history, traditions and real life of the place they are visiting, away from the tourist-saturated areas, but only a few minutes away by car from some of the best beaches in Mallorca and traditionally more touristy areas in the area, the cosy Town House Ca Na Mabel is an ideal choice that will surely not disappoint you.

The house has been recently restored with great detail and with a lot of effort and care on the part of the owners, Miquel i Maria, who have successfully combined the majesty of the old with the simplicity of the modern, thus achieving an atmosphere warm, in a very authentic environment and with all the comfort and obsession with detail so that those who visit the place can enjoy a relaxed stay and feel at home in a privileged environment.

It is a 17th century house, which has been recently restored respecting its original architecture but adapting it to modern comforts. It has air conditioning throughout the house, a fabulous pool, a very traditional kitchen but at the same time with all the modern equipment, as well as a large barbecue with outdoor kitchen and wood oven.

The house has three bedrooms. The main bedroom has a 200×200 bed and an en-suite bathroom. The other two bedrooms have two single beds per room and a full bathroom to share. There is a living room with TV and sofa on the first floor next to the bedrooms.

On the ground floor there is a large living room with sofas and television, a bathroom and also a kitchen that opens onto the terrace with the pool. At the end of the terrace is the barbecue.

The house is located in the heart of Sa Pobla, just 2 minutes walk from the best restaurants and bars in the Plaza Mayor, (wood-fired pizzerias, international cuisine, gourmet burgers, tapas and lots of beer). There are also traditional shops with all kinds of items.

Sa Pobla is very close to the Bay of Alcudia and the Bay of Pollensa, where you can enjoy wonderful beaches. It is also very close to the mountain where you can enjoy countless hiking or biking trails.

And, of course, for leisure time, the house also has a GAMES ROOM with a pool table, air hockey, ping pong and professional darts.

The Neighborhood:
The beautiful Playa de Muro Blue Flag beach is 10 km away. It is a large beach with plenty of facilities as well as some shade under the pine trees.

Sa Pobla is a small municipality with around 12,000 inhabitants which is situated in the centre of Mallorca, between Inca and Alcúdia. Sa Pobla known for its agriculture and the humble potato, in particular, gets a lot of attention here as it is exported to many countries and a festival is even held in its honour each year.

There are many attractions in the town as well as the surrounding area. The beautiful beach of Muro (Playa de Muro) is, for example, only approximately 10 km away. Its excellent transport connections – Sa Pobla lies directly by the Palma-Alcúdia motorway and there is also a train connection to Palma – mean that you can easily and quickly get to many towns and villages throughout Mallorca.

Located in the northwest of the island of Mallorca and less than 10 kilometers from the coast, the municipality of Sa Pobla has all the charm of the Mediterranean’s rural towns. Surrounded by land and agricultural fields, this town provides visitors with a magnificent setting for hiking and cycling, offering attractive routes through its surroundings that invite you to get lost and enjoy interesting itineraries at any time of the year.

THINGS TO DO:

Below are a few suggestions on things to do and see in the area of Sa Pobla. 

VISIT THE MUSEUM OF CAN PLANES:

One of the most significant places in Sa Pobla, is the stunning building of Can Planes and the museum inside. The museum is mainly dedicated to contemporary arts, however, there is also an interesting exhibition of antique toys that has been here since 1972.  Most of the art exhibitions changes frequently, but there are also a few staying ones. Can Planes hosts a range of interesting activities and events throughout the year; workshops, demonstrations etc. The museum is well worth a visit, a thing you should do in Sa Pobla.

VISIT THE 14TH CENTURY CHURCH OF CRESTATX:

It’s always interesting an fun to see something that dates back a long time and has a history to tell. The oratory of Crestatx was erected back in 1360 to give the small community a place to fulfill their religious obligations. The temple has underwent many restorations and modifications since the original building was constructed, however, many of the original elements are still seen on the exterior and in the interior. Beautiful gardens surrounds the oratory. This is a great little trip to a nice and tranquil area, perfect if you are also visiting the s’Albufera wetlands, or are just nearby.

VISIT THE PAROCHIAL CHURCH:

As the case of many Mallorcan towns and villages, the churches have a central role in the forming of the local community. Inside the church of Sant Antoni, you will find a beautiful  interior, an organ of the famous Damià Caimari dating back from 1717 along with a collection of religious arts.

DISCOVER THE S’ALBUFERA WETLANDS:

One of the biggest natural areas in Mallorca is the wetlands of s’Albufera, located just north of Sa Pobla town. S’Albufera is home to more than 200 species of Balearic wildlife, including a wide variety of Mediterranean birds to watch and observe. The 2,600 hectares of nature park has marked walking and bicycling routes leading about between the scenic vegetation crossing little bridges passing.

SPORTS TOURISM:

The municipality of Sa Pobla offers possibilities to practice all kinds of sports and has many municipal facilities. Among the sports events held during the year, we can highlight: “Sa Llego” (January), the Half Marathon (February), the 10 km race (February), the night race “Memorial Pere Pixedis” (July), the Team Time Triathlon (July) and the Duathlon (December).

Cycle tourism: The boom in this sport finds one of its epicenters in the north of the island all year round, especially in the tourist areas around Sa Pobla: Can Picafort, Muro, Alcúdia and Pollença. This is due to the good climate and the excellent roads suitable for cycling, which connect all the villages of the island. Furthermore, cycling allows you to contemplate many of the island’s iconic landscapes. These factors has made Mallorca to become a paradise for cycling lovers, whether professional or amateur.

Hiking: The northern part of the island has an infinite number of excursions to discover the Mediterranean landscape on foot. In addition, Sa Pobla is home to the “Parc Natural de s’Albufera de Mallorca”, an ideal natural environment for walking and enjoying the flora, fauna and nature. Thus, the paths that run through the “Parc Natural de s’Albufera de Mallorca” are among the best hiking routes to take in the municipality of Sa Pobla.

Sports facilities: Sa Pobla has a wide range of sports facilities. Most of them are in the municipal sports center, located on the “Son Basca” path. There you can find: a natural grass soccer field with bleachers, an artificial grass soccer field, four greenset tennis courts, an olympic outdoor swimming pool, a small swimming pool 6x4m, an indoor swimming pool 25x12m, a pavilion, a semi-covered pavilion, an athletics track 370 meters (not homologated) and two multipurpose halls. In addition to that, in other parts of the village, there are other sports facilities, such as a skatepark and an outdoor basketball and football court.

Other Things to Note:
· Pets are not allowed.

· The holding of events is forbidden.

· There’s a mandatory tourist tax in Balearic Islands, called Ecotasa. All guests, except people under 16 years, have to pay this tax in cash on the day of arrival. The amount varies between 0.55€/night and guest during the low season and 2.2€/night and guest during the high season.
